Cambridge
The city of Cambridge has an interesting and diverse history that dates back to about 1816. In this year, a large section of land in the region was owned by the Six Nations Indians and was purchased by a Scotsman named William Dickson. The original village was called Shade’s Mill but renamed Galt in honour of the famous John Galt.
In 1973, Cambridge saw the amalgamation of Galt City and the towns of Hespeler, Preston, and portions of the townships of Waterloo and North Dumfries into the City of Cambridge. The present day city is proud of its heritage, cosmopolitan population and lifestyles. Situated within the Waterloo Regional Municipality and the Canada’s Technology Triangle gateway, Cambridge is a region regarded as the most prosperous and highly industrialized area of Canada.
A sustainable community
The City has developed a sustainable business environment. In addition, there is a vibrant arts and culture community, which have a history of highly supportive public and private partnerships. This provides the ideal foundation for education and development for progression and for educating future leaders. Serious consideration has been given to the fact that while the creation of a sustainable community is crucial to Cambridge and its future, so is the actual environment!
Cambridge is a fast-developing community, but one that maintains and protects its small town charm. The City offers everything to meet the needs of its population, in terms of a quality lifestyle, industry, and business opportunities.
Transportation
The City of Cambridge is effectively serviced by established regional and provincial highways. A primary transportation advantage is an extensive road system that services the Province of Ontario. Further support is a freight service provided by both Canadian National and Canadian Pacific, with a passenger service offered at Via Rail in Kitchener.
Business and leisure travelers are served with worldwide air services from three airports, all less than one hour from the city! Should you be considering relocating in Ontario, then it could be in your interest to seek the advice of a mortgage broker in Cambridge.
